After the last blog "The difference between dry and dehydrated skin", I was asked a great question! "How does one visually identify if he/she has dry or dehydrated skin?" I absolutely LOVED this and felt a blog could be the best way to dive into that awesome question.
How to tell if your skin is dehydrated:
A good test to see if your skin is dehydrated is to gently press on your cheek with your index finger. If you see wrinkling or fine lines develop instead of holding its shape, your skin cells are desperate for water. Dehydrated skin can also feel tight, look dull in the mirror, and you may notice more exaggerated wrinkles, or ones in places you don't remember having them, along with more exaggerated dark circles beneath your eyes.
Sip at least half your body weight in ounces of pure water every day.
Take shorter showers with warm water instead of hot.
Extreme temperatures such as hot or cold climates pull moisture from the skin and can cause dermatitis.
Consume foods with a high water content such as cucumbers, celery, radishes, iceberg lettuce and watermelon.
Limit or avoid caffeine consumption. Coffee and other sources of caffeine such as soda, cause adrenal fatigue adding to diminished water content within the skin. If you need a boost of energy in the morning, opt for a form of green tea.
Incorporate vegan hyaluronic acid and 100% pure aloe vera in your skincare products. These ingredients are so important for healing and protecting the skin that you will be able to find one or both of these ingredients used within all of Vie by Shanti’s products.

How to tell if your skin if dry:
Dry skin is connected to our skin type and is linked to genetic factors. Next time you are in your bathroom, look in the mirror and examine your pores. If your pore size is extremely small to invisible, your oil or sebaceous glads are under-active, resulting in dry skin. Visually dry skin can manifest as tightness, flaking, dry patches, itchiness, and can be exacerbated in the winter months.

Increase Omega-3 fatty acid, fish oils as well as nuts and seeds. These fatty acids are responsible for the health of the cell membrane, which is not only what acts as the barrier to things that are harmful, but also the passageway for nutrients to cross in and of the cell.
